From enemies to frenemies to besties! It’s only been two months since Lorde publicly dissed Taylor, but that must all be water under the bridge now, because the two singers looked happy as can be celebrating Taylor’s 24th birthday in Melbourne, Australia on Dec. 13.
It doesn’t take long for Taylor Swift to adopt a new BFF, and she’s seemingly done just that with her former rival Lorde. After the singers had multiple private dinners together, the 17-year-old singer was on hand in Melbourne, Australia on Dec. 13 to celebrate Taylor’s 24th birthday. So much for these two hating each other!
Taylor Swift Celebrates Birthday With Lorde
“The best birthday I’ve ever had,” Taylor captioned one of the party photos she posted on Instagram. And well, maybe it was the best because she had her new bestie with her to enjoy it. In the many pictures Taylor uploaded, Lorde can be seen having a good time as well — smiling wide in group photos, playing with sparklers next to Taylor, and adorably wrapping her arms around Taylor’s waist.
It seems weird seeing T-Swift and Lorde together — they really seemed well set up to be enemies — but it’s clear that Taylor has taken the younger pop star under her wing and is cultivating a long-lasting friendship.
The night before Taylor’s b-day bash, she and Lorde were spotted having a ball together while out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant. And a month earlier on Nov. 11, the two grabbed burgers at Shake Shack in New York City together.
This all comes after Lorde publicly lashed out against Taylor in an interview in October. Lorde quipped that Taylor was painfully “too flawless and unattainable,” while also bashing the likes of Selena Gomez,Justin Bieber, and more.
Though Lorde was quick to backtrack on her Taylor diss, writing on her Tumblr, “I will probably never be the kind of role model for my fans that TS is for hers. I admire her very much for this reason.”
Maybe that was the seed that blossomed into this unlikely yet adorable friendship!
