Beyonce Album Review — Bey’s Surprise Album Is Amazing From Start To Finish
Beyonce’s album kicks off with the moving “Pretty Hurts,” which calls out America’s obsession with physical perfection to the tune of uplifting synths and cymbals. Beyonce has given us a fresh take on TLC‘s “Unpretty,” with inspiring lyrics such as “Perfection is the disease of the nation” and “It’s the soul that needs the surgery.”
Beyonce Strips For Jay Z On New Album
On “Drunk in Love,” Bey shows us a different side of herself, holding her own as she raps verses about “cigars on ice” and “cameras in her grill,” before making way for the master — her husband Jay Z!
“Blow,” with its fresh and funky beat, may be the biggest departure from Bey’s usual sound — and we can’t get enough of it! Maybe that’s because the brilliant Pharrell Williams had a hand in track, which, if you listen closely, is a racy ode to oral sex!
Beyonce Sings About Jay Z & Blue Ivy On Her New Album
On “Mine,” Bey candidly sings about her marriage troubles with Jay Z in one of her most personal songs ever:
“I’ve been watching for the signs/Took a trip to clear my mind/Now I’m even more lost/And you’re still so fine, oh my oh my/Been having conversations about breakups and separations/I’m not feeling like myself since the baby/Are we gonna even make it? Oooh/Cause if we are, we’re taking this a little too far/Me being wherever I’m at, worried about wherever you are”
Wow! We love Beyonce for sharing her true feelings, especially amid the couple’s separation rumors.
We’ve skipped over a few tracks, but we have to mention the final song on the album, “Blue,” which is of course about the new love of Beyonce’s life, her one-year-old daughter,Blue Ivy! Bey’s voice sounds positively gorgeous on this groovy track about the eye-opening love between mother and daughter.
Little Blue makes an adorable appearance on the song, echoing her superstar mom’s lyrics “hold onto me” and giggling along with her. How sweet!
