Selena Gomez As New ‘X Factor’ Judge? — Simon Cowell Tells All

After the announcement that Demi would not be returning to ‘X-Factor’ next season, rumors began swirling that Selena could be taking her spot at the judges table.

Simon Cowell cleared up any rumors on Dec. 19, when he was asked about the chance of Selena Gomez taking over Demi  Lovato‘s seat at the judges table —  to hear his shocking answer.

“I’ve known for a while [Demi] wasn’t going to do it again, so we’ve been thinking about it for three or four months. There was one person who we were chasing, which is important for the show,” Simon told reporters after the season three finale of X Factor.

So, does that mean it will be Demi’s good friend, Selena?
“No actually, No,” Simon replied. “You know what though, I find what’s really important for all these judges, to call them
mentors, because they’ve got to do the job we are paying them to do which is to turn them into recording artists. Not just to say ‘You’re good and you’re bad’ — I think that role’s changed hugely. So the interview process will be very different going forward.”
So, it looks like Simon will be more picky when choosing the next mentor on X Factor.
